Manga Flash Effect in AI

Description

Seems fairly shoddy, but it can be done (sort of). I experimented with the sought-after 'Flash Effect' and found that it's possible to create it in Illustrator. Normally this can take HOURS to draw out yourself, or you need some kind of photoshop plugin or the Mangastudio software.

First, create a perfect black circle. No outlines. Go to 'Effects', and find Distort & Transform > Roughen. Check off the Preview, and max out the detail slider. Play around with the size (also a slider) until the converging lines are close enough together for your liking, you can also toggle 'relative' and absolute' and fiddle around with the size to your liking.

NOTES:

*This doesn't work well with ellipses or egg shapes, as the points won't converge at the same point, and look pretty random.

*If you make a donut shaped flash, the result will be messy, and there will be minor blips in places that you'll have to clean up yourself. Tedious and time consuming.

*To use in Photoshop, stick it on a background. If you want a white flash, use a black background, and vice versa. For best results, make it a smart object. I haven't tried scaling them in PS yet, so I don't know if turning them into ellipses there would affect the converging points. You'll have to test it out yourself ;)

*Please don't use my PDF in your own works. It's easy to remake in illustrator and you'll have so much more control over the size, line proximity, etc.
